Just by changing a few things, you can actually cut your study time in half and get twice or even thrice the grades. So you can go from that burntout student who studies 8 to 10 hours a day without any time to do literally anything else to becoming that student who's able to miraculously have time for literally everything like gym, social life, everything and still acing their tests while studying half the time.

So one period in my university for context I'm a dental medical student. I thought that in order to get ead I needed to study even more. The more I studied the more I get good grades.

However, I started studying ungodly amounts of hours and I wasn't getting the grades that I wanted and I was really really sad and depressed that time because I thought that maybe I just hit the limit of my brain capacity.

I'm just not smart enough for school. I would check my Pomodoro timer and I would see that I would study for 8 hours, 10 hours or even 12 hours at a time and yet it's not reflecting on my grades.

However, I took a step back and I re-evaluated my study method. And once I changed this one simple thing, but I was able to do that while studying half the time. I would then have time to go to the gym.

I would have time to manage two YouTube channel, this one and Kaid. And I would even have time to spend with my friends and family. So, in this video, I'll teach you how I went from having to study insane amount of hours and not getting grades that I wanted to getting not only high grades and high scores, but doing that at a fraction of the time, making time for literally everything else.

All right. So, the first thing that I want to talk about and the mistake that most students make is that not only costs you so much time, but so much effort, but also doesn't really get you the grades that you want.

So, naturally, what is the first thing that most students do when they want to get better grades or when they want to get better scores? They study more. And this already is the first mistake that most students make.

Now, you might be asking me, how the heck is studying more a mistake? It's not necessarily that you're studying more. The mistake is that most students treat everything that they study with equal effort.

Let me explain. Normally, when a student studies for an exam, they study from start to end. So, they start from the introduction literally to the last topic included in the exam. And that is the complete wrong way of studying for a specific exam.

With that method, you are allocating equal effort into every topic of the exam. However, an exam typically looks more like this. Certain topics appear more, some topics are highlighted, and some topics generally don't appear that much.

So, the first thing and the first rule that I always follow when I'm studying for a specific exam is you should study for the exam itself, not the subject. So, the first thing you need to do and the first most important step is to scout your exam.

And by scouting I mean looking for past exam papers, getting information from your friends or your colleagues or even your seniors or getting information from online. Your goal with the first step is to scout your exam.

The reason why this is so important is because you are trying to identify what is most likely going to come out of the exam. For example, let's say you have a major biology exam and you find out that most of the exam will cover immunology or the study of your immune systems like T- cells, B cells, whatever.

Once you're able to get that intel, you already know what topic you need to focus your energy on. So in this step, there are mainly three methods that you can do. Although there are other methods as well, but three methods that I can think of is number one, looking for online resources about that specific exam.

So it'll be much easier if you're taking a standardized national test like the SATs or your IB exams or pretty much anything that is standardized. It is very easy to find online resources for that.

The second method is to ask for seniors or friends or other people who already taken the exam. Ask them what came out of the exam. What can you remember? What are the different topics that you remember?

What are the formats of these specific questions? Make sure to ask them these things. And then finally, the third step is to look for reviewers or practice tests of that specific subject or that exam.

So again, if you're able to find past exam papers or whatnot, those are very, very useful for your exam. Going through this step will allow you to study for specific topics that you can focus on, which means that you can save time and energy by not studying as much on the topics that are not most likely going to appear in your exam.

So again, once you've gathered intel or once you've gathered information, try to list them down on a piece of paper. Write the list of topics that are most likely going to appear in your exam.

you know, write that down on a piece of paper, write it down on a notepad or whatever, as long as you have a list of the topics that you'll be focusing on. Bonus points if you're actually able to get a previous exam paper.

All right, once you are done scouting, the next step is the studying itself. And in order to not waste any more time, we are going to be employing a very high yield study method. So, what is the exact study method that I've used that I've used for my exams that I was able to use to ace the exams?

It's actually just three steps. The first step is the pre-est phase. So, typically before I study, I put my study material into an AI or whatever and I convert them into questions.

And before I study the topic, I make sure to go through those questions. The reason why I'm doing that is because by doing this, you're building a very good schema or you're giving your brain good context before heading into your study sessions by answering questions blindly.

Personally for me, I don't like making the questions myself, which is why this video is sponsored by Notability. I've been using Notability for my notes for dental school, and it has been just so useful mainly from the fact that I'm able to generate flashcards and questions from the notes itself.

So, practically, I just do my pre-est on Notability right here. So, I just open the smart tab. So, I just open the side tab of Notability and I just go through the questions there.

And then once I'm done with that pre-EST, I'm able to head with my study session itself. I've been using Notability for the past semester. It's been amazing. So if you guys want to check out Notability and their smart AI notes as well, then you can head to the link in the description below to check out Notability.

But yeah, after pre-esting on Notability, I would then move on to the next step, which is the studying itself. So I don't waste my time reading or just passive reading or just, you know, rereading.

What I try to do is I try to make questions while I'm studying the material itself. So for example, let's say I'm reading a passage about angotensin 2 receptor blockers on pharmarmacology.

Instead of just reading the passage, I try to generate questions while I'm reading the passage and really just understanding the topic. So personally, I like having an on one side of the screen and my study material on the other side of the screen.

So as I'm going through the study material, I start encoding questions that I'll be using later. And finally, once I'm done encoding the questions and once I'm done going through the study material, the last step of the study routine is to just go through the practice questions that you've made for yourself.

So for me personally, once I'm done with my study method, I would go back to my Anki cards and then I would review them until I am done. And it's very convenient because I've already made the questions there and I've already gone through the study material.

All I have to do now is the setting itself. Which leads me to my last step which is to practice space repetition every day. A lot of mistakes that a lot of students make especially with apps like Ani or you know just space repetition software in general is that they don't study every day.

So as much as possible try to study the questions every day and try to space them out so that you will retain this knowledge until your exam rather than it being a one-time thing. The good thing about Anki is that when you review this every day, yes, it may be a lot of cards at first, but because of space repetition, it will start making the intervals a lot longer, making the cards appear less and less as you study them every day.

So, not only will you see them less frequent, but you'll also have it engraved in your memory a lot better. But yeah, that's pretty much how I was able to get good grades while studying half the time.

Funny enough, a lot of these study methods and these high efficiency productivity tips and methods, I'm actually building an exclusive private community surrounding that. So stay tuned for that because it will be an amazing community.

I'll be posting tips and blueprints as well as courses and lessons as well. This will be a really private community that will only be accessible to a few of you guys. So just excited to announce that it's called Kai Academy.

I'm still building it right now. It's kind of a challenge to build it right now, especially managing two channels, going to the gym and balancing dental medical school. So, yeah, that is that.

But I just wanted to give this exciting announcement that I've been building it for the past few weeks and it's been going great. I just need to record a lot of content there. But otherwise, yeah, that is pretty much my study method.

I hope you guys enjoyed today's video. If you guys have any questions or if you guys have tips of your own, then leave them in the comments below. But the last message I wanted to leave with you guys is the best decision I've made in my school is to really just enjoy every aspect of my life.

When I stopped studying for the entire day or the entire week and just really started spending time on other things, I think that was when I was the most happiest. That was when I was the most happiest.

That's when I actually got even better scores in my scores. And it's just really just reminded me that, you know, as much as you studied, there is such a thing as just the right amount of studying and too much studying.

Don't neglect any other areas in your life. But anyway, again, I hope you guys enjoyed today's video and I'll see you in the next one. Don't forget to drink your water. Bye.
