Hey everyone. In this video, I have a couple new monthly layouts for you to try in your bullet journal. Now, I have my standard two column, two-page layout that lots of people are using.
In fact, one got totally ripped off on Instagram this past month, but I want to show you a couple of different ways that you could have more of a calendar block view in your month.
Or if you just need more room than the one line a day I give you, check out this video. I'm going to go through both of them. It's going to be really easy to follow. I did the math for you on the calendar block, so you don't have to worry about any of that.
It'll all work. You do probably need a ruler to make those lines nice and crisp. Let's go ead and look at it. Check it out, and I'll tell you what to do in October this year. Okay, here's the expanded twoline twopage version of my normal monthly layout, which is days of the month in the left column, corresponding days of the week on the right side, and then like key moments, events, birthdays, trips, stuff like that, and then one line a day journal, which you can see I failed in.
So, in case you think I'm perfect and do all this right, you can see three quarters of the month unfulfilled. So, if you do want more space, you're basically doing the same thing, but no highlight journal on the right.
You can still do that on the next page and do your hab habit tracker on the next page, but still days of the month on the left, corresponding days of the month of the week on the right, and then you have a couple of like dot rows here to fill in anything that you want.
So if you find that you put more things into your monthly layout, then this expanded version may be helpful to you. The other thing that might be helpful to you is tada. This right here, this is more of a traditional calendar block layout style.
Something like this. Obviously, this says September, but if we look at October right here, you have a block for each day of the month. And you have your week up here. Now, let me explain the math to you.
Here we have for each of these daily block columns, these are five and a dots each. So, if you were to count, actually, like I said, I did the math for you on this. We're talking about there are here 25 dots across and 37 dots down.
So that goes to say that now we're looking at 37 here and 25 here. Okay, great. So 5 * 7 is 35. So you have you can see a little bit of buffer here on the right. You could also go like one and one on each side and that would be all set for you.
And by the way, if you're using the official Lystrom bullet journal, which I recommend, they actually show you here all of the different grid layouts right on the inside cover. Super helpful.
One of my favorite little features of this type of notebook, bullet journal. Okay, now let's talk about how high each one could be. Now, what you want to do is just to make sure that you have enough room for every day, you are going to want to have five rows here.
1 2 3 4 5. So we can fit if we go about seven and a half dots per row then this will fit. The thing that I want to show you here if you look and again this is a feature of the Lystrom bullet journal.
They have these three dots below the main grid. You can see it here a little better. And this is supposed to show you like third, third, third, left third, middle third, right third.
Well, it also is kind of a perfect way to look at and say if you make your row line just below these three dots, that's kind of exactly where you want to be. So, in between like just after this, just after this, now you're going first week, second week, third week, fourth week, fifth week.
And you can see that I do also add in so like the days of the previous month that are leading up to October 1st. And then you can see right here, Sunday is November 1st. So I do go ead and write those in.
One little note, you can put your days however you want, but I like to go a Monday through Sunday weekly layout. But just a heads up on that. And there is actually still a little more space down at the bottom.
So you could do a habit tracker down here. So same thing that I've done in the past. This gives you eight rows for habits. And I'm doing the same thing. Here's just each day of the month.
Now I haven't started October yet. So nothing to check here. For example, on the first, hope I get a workout in. Hope I read the Bible. Hope I journal. Make content. Half gallon of water.
Let's just go ead and say I'm not going to get to that. I don't drink enough water. 180 grams of protein. So, I'm just making my X's right there. Very traditional habit tracker style stuff.
So, between these two, you have a couple of different monthly layouts to try. Now, you've seen my standard monthly layout, but then I also have like this more expanded two lines instead of the one or you can follow the layout on this.
Again, five each for the daily column, 7 and 12ish for the weekly row. Make sure you see, you know, just come right below these three dots here and here. That'll give you your three rows.
Same thing down here. And then you have enough room for a habit tracker at the bottom. Hey, something that I want to encourage you on as we go into October because this is the final quarter, the final 25% of the year.
And y'all, 2027 is going to be here before we know it. So, what I want you to do, I think there September 22nd was 100 days left in the year. So, October 1st, let's just say 91 days left in the year.
My account might be off by one, but think about what do you really want to do in the last quarter of the year. 91 days is enough time to do something significant, but you need to be focused and you need to be intentional.
So, what I would do is go ead and make a list of everything that you would want to do or you think you need to do related to the goal that you want to achieve, the project that you want to complete before the year is done.
If you would like to see more about how I do this, please leave a comment below and I will make another video showing you my analog project planning in the bullet journal. I'll go through everything so it's really clear for you.
But the one thing that I would say is don't let the fear of the unknown or the worry about like well I don't know all the things that I have to do or I don't know what priority these like steps should be taken in.
If you just get started you will find that you will better understand your priorities and you'll start to be able to make those choices much more effectively. It reminds me of this book actually.
Let me go get this book real quick. It's just in the other room. Let me grab it. All right. Here's the book. It's called The Lion Tracker's Guide to Life. And I'm going to have a little story time with you.
I don't know what this will do to YouTube attention. Maybe you'll like me doing a little bit of reading to you. Okay, this is page 47. Really short book, by the way. I don't know where we are going, but I know exactly how to get there.
If you can see your whole life's path laid out, then it's not your life's path. That's a quote from Joseph Campbell, by the way. But then the author goes on to say, Boyd Vardy, in my own life, I have often struggled with the first track.
Full of grand visions and a desire to do something great. I often couldn't find the first small beginning and do the next small thing. I couldn't dial huge possibilities into small practical actions.
And I couldn't trust doing enough of what needed to be done today would in time render a path and an outcome that could be great. I had to learn to be in the process of transformation, not trying to be transformed.
You can't skip past creating to the creation. Y'all, some truth, some wisdom. So, I hope that encourages you as you're thinking about like, well, I hope you have the vision. You have the vision because you know what you want to achieve.
Don't let the unknown of like, I don't know the exact path or I don't know the exact steps stop you from doing the next small thing, from taking that small beginning. Like, yeah, I know I want to track a line.
Seems pretty big and scary. What do I need to do? I just need to find the first track. So, if you're getting overwhelmed, if you're overthinking things, just find that first small beginning, that first track, and then find the next track, and the next track, and the next track, and before you know it, you're getting way closer than you ever would have if you tried to plan everything out all at once.
Okay, thank you so much for watching this video. Like, leave a comment. Let me know if you want to do a project thing. Also, let me know if you like story time with Uncle Matt. And maybe I'll do more of these with my favorite books.
Thanks so much for watching. I'll see you next time. Bye.
